The Military issue Ontario Knife SP16 SPAX with a Multicam sheath is not your average Axe. SPAX stands for Special Axe with a unique history. With its unique design, this breaching tool is built to handle the toughest tasks. Measuring at around 13" in overall length, the Military Ontario SP16 SPAX is a force to be reckoned with.

Crafted with full tang construction and a hefty 1/4" thick blade coated in a durable black epoxy powder coat, this tool means business. Its versatility knows no bounds, thanks to the sharpened 5.2" rounded blade and pick on the opposite side. The rounded blade is designed so that it will not bind when removing it from a cut and the pick is wicked strong to start a hole in just about anything. From chopping wood, cutting through metal, and hacking away at obstacles, the SP16 SPAX delivers.

The Special Axe was originally adopted by U.S. Military in WWII as an emergency axe for pilots due to its size and ability. It later became adapted as an aide in firefighting and emergency rescue. The center hole was made to fit fire hydrants or shutting off gas valves. Don't worry about losing it in the heat of the action - there's a hole in the butt cap for attaching a lanyard.
