Helpful Tip or Trick of the day: Start with quality rough if you want quality finished stones; you can’t polish away internal fractures, deep pits, or crumbly textures. When buying rough, look for solid pieces without obvious crack lines or chalky zones. A few flaws are normal, but the more stable and homogeneous the material, the better the outcome. Cheap, low‐grade rough can cost more in wasted grit, electricity, and time than buying better material up front.
